We are not claiming that THCA causes opioid deaths.
We are not claiming that marijuana itself caused Tennessee's fentanyl overdose crisis.
We are not claiming that every former THCA customer will purchase marijuana, fentanyl, opioids, or another illegal substance.
We are warning that removing regulated products may redirect some consumers toward street marijuana, out-of-state sellers, unregulated cannabinoids, counterfeit products, or dealers participating in the broader illegal-drug market.
Tennessee's illicit market already contains fentanyl, opioids, methamphetamine, counterfeit pills, and other substances responsible for thousands of deaths.
The policy risk is increased exposure to an unregulated marketplace, not a claim that THCA directly caused those deaths.
